Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY) Panel
Use
This test is intended for individuals with features suggestive of Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY), including young adults diagnosed with diabetes before the age of 35 who have an autosomal dominant family history, individuals who have been previously diagnosed with diabetes but lack pancreatic autoantibodies and maintain insulin production, and lean individuals with diabetes who lack features typical of type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The test aims to confirm a diagnosis of MODY and assist in personalized treatment options.
Special Instructions
This test requires a clinical or suspected diagnosis of MODY. STAT testing options are available to expedite results for urgent cases. Institutional pricing and ordering are accessible through the myPrevent platform.
Limitations
The test identifies sequence variants and copy number variations (CNVs) in the 18 genes associated with MODY. However, it may not detect all genetic variations related to MODY or diabetes, and false negatives may occur if variants are outside the regions examined or not detectable by the employed methodology. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings and family history.
