Susceptibility to Infection Panel
Use
This test is intended for individuals who present with increased susceptibility to viral, bacterial, mycobacteria, and/or fungal infections, as well as those with an unexplained life-threatening infection in otherwise healthy individuals. It is also useful for family members of individuals with known genetic susceptibility to infection.
Special Instructions
This test requires a specimen type appropriate to the chosen platform, either the Exome or Genome platform. The Exome platform allows for more specimen options, including blood, DNA, buccal, saliva, and tissue, whereas the Genome platform is restricted to blood and DNA samples.
Limitations
This panel is limited to the detection of variants within the 66 genes currently known to contribute to infection susceptibility. The test may not detect all genetic variants involved in immune response, particularly those outside the specified genes or in non-coding regions. It also does not assess environmental or other non-genetic factors affecting immune function.
