Celiac Genetics
Use
PROMETHEUS Celiac Genetics analyzes a patient’s genetic profile for genes specifically associated with celiac disease. The test can predict with 95% to 100% certainty that a patient does not have celiac disease or determine if they are at increased risk of developing symptoms. This genetic profiling helps in disease risk stratification and understanding the likely course of the disease.
Special Instructions
The test is developed and performed by Prometheus Laboratories Inc., CLIA certified and CAP accredited. No FDA clearance or approval is required for this laboratory-developed test. Network provider services indicates that this test specifically looks for HLA-DQ2, HLA-DQ8, and the allele DQA1*0201 to exclude celiac disease with high certainty.
Limitations
As a laboratory-developed test, PROMETHEUS Celiac Genetics has not been cleared or approved by the FDA, though it is performed under CLIA guidelines. The test is only available via Prometheus Laboratories, and alternatives are not available through in-network labs as per provided PDF materials.
