BAP1‑IHC without interpretation
Also known as: Immuno Histo Chemistry, Uveal melanoma, Histopathology, metastatic skin melanoma
Use
Immunohistochemical stain for BAP1 (BRCA1‑associated protein‑1) is a technical stain without morphological interpretation provided. Loss of nuclear staining indicates potential inactivation of BAP1, which can be associated with tumor types such as malignant mesothelioma, uveal melanoma, clear cell renal cell carcinoma, and others. This stain is used as part of a panel of immunostains to aid in the identification of BAP1 loss as a marker in diagnostic pathology. Notably, interpretation is not included—if interpretation is required, a separate pathology consultation must be ordered.
Special Instructions
Technical component only: stain is performed but no pathologist interpretation is provided. If interpretation is needed, order the separate diagnostic consultation test (e.g., PATHC / Pathology Consultation).
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the immunostain. The presence of appropriate positive and negative controls is ensured, but interpretation must occur in the context of clinical and morphological findings by a qualified pathologist.
