BRAF V600E Mutation IHC without interpretation
Also known as: Immuno Histo Chemistry, Histopathology, BRAF Mutation, Melanoma
Use
This test detects the presence of BRAF V600E–mutant protein in formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded (FFPE) tissue specimens using immunohistochemistry (IHC). It serves as a rapid screening tool to identify tumors harboring this specific mutation, which is commonly observed in melanoma and other malignancies and may inform eligibility for targeted therapies.
Special Instructions
This is a technical component only and does not include pathologist interpretation. For diagnostic evaluation, a separate pathology consultation or interpretation test (e.g., IHC interpretation or pathology consultation) must be ordered.
Limitations
This assay only assesses protein expression and does not provide molecular-level mutation information; only the presence of mutant BRAF V600E protein is detected. Interpretation should be conducted in the full clinical and diagnostic context, including other histopathologic findings and clinical history.
