This test is designed for prenatal screening via urine culture, specifically identifying Group B Streptococcus (GBS) and performing antibiotic susceptibility testing when appropriate—critical for managing maternal and neonatal risk of GBS transmission.
Special Instructions
Identification and antibiotic susceptibilities are performed at additional charge if culture is positive. Susceptibility to Group B Strep is included if isolated.
Limitations
Only performs antibiotic susceptibilities when appropriate. Identification incurs additional charges. Susceptibility testing applies only when Group B Streptococcus is isolated.
