Drug Toxicology Marijuana, with Confirmation, Oral Fluid
Use
This assay detects the presence of marijuana (THC and/or its metabolites) in oral fluid. It is used for monitoring recent marijuana use, offering a less invasive alternative to urine testing and providing rapid detection in cases of suspected recent ingestion.
Special Instructions
Specimen must be collected using the Quantisal™ oral fluid collection device. Oral‑Eze® is no longer acceptable. Avoid food, drink, gum or tobacco for 10 minutes prior to collection; if mouth not empty, rinse with up to 4 oz water and wait 10 minutes before collection. Place swab under tongue until blue dye indicates sufficient volume in collection pad.
Limitations
Detection of marijuana in oral fluid reflects recent use but does not indicate dose or timing. Concentration in oral fluid cannot determine amount consumed or time since ingestion. A positive screening result triggers confirmatory testing at additional charge.
