Drug Toxicology Meprobamate, with Confirmation, Oral Fluid
Use
This test screens for the presence of meprobamate—a sedative/ anxiolytic medication—in oral fluid. Detection may indicate recent use, misuse, or diversion of the drug, aiding clinicians in therapeutic monitoring, compliance assessment, or substance misuse evaluation in patients.
Special Instructions
Specimen must be collected using the Quantisal™ oral fluid collection device per Quest Diagnostics’ preferred specimen guidance—including volume indicator and proper handling—to ensure adequacy of sample and validity of results.
Limitations
Oral fluid testing has a shorter detection window compared to urine and may have lower drug concentrations, potentially reducing sensitivity. Food debris, improper collection device, insufficient volume, or device misuse (e.g., inverted wand, multiple swabs) can invalidate the specimen. Detection does not indicate dose or time since ingestion.
