Drug Toxicology — Methadone with Confirmation, Oral Fluid
Use
This test is used for detecting the presence of methadone in oral fluid specimens. As part of Quest Diagnostics’ drug monitoring panels, detection in the screening step triggers a confirmatory test using definitive methodologies, helping clinicians assess recent methadone use for compliance or monitoring purposes.
Special Instructions
This test is performed on oral fluid collected via Quantisal® device in an observed setting. A positive or above‑cutoff screening result will reflex to confirmation and quantification at an additional charge.
Limitations
Detection in oral fluid reflects recent use and does not provide information on the timing or dose. Oral fluid results may be detectable only for approximately 24–48 hours after use, and concentrations do not necessarily correlate with ingestion amount. Sample integrity depends on proper collection using a validated device.
