Drug Toxicology Zolpidem, with Confirmation, Oral Fluid
Use
This test detects zolpidem use via oral fluid (saliva) collection, providing the capability for observed specimen collection when urine is not practical. Oral fluid testing enables detection of recent drug use, as drugs enter salivary glands rapidly and are cleared faster from oral fluid compared to urine, often within 24–48 hours after ingestion.
Special Instructions
Uses the Quantisal® oral fluid collection device. If a presumptive screening result meets or exceeds cutoff, confirmation by definitive testing is performed at additional charge. The test aligns with Quest Diagnostics’ oral fluid drug testing panels and utilizes LC‑MS/MS for screening and confirmation.
Limitations
Detection window is relatively short—oral fluid drug levels reflect recent use and may not indicate dosing time or amount. Interpretation should consider that oral fluid may clear drugs faster than urine, and positive findings only indicate presence, not timing or dose.
