ERG IHC without interpretation
Use
This immunohistochemical (IHC) test performs the technical staining for ERG, a transcription factor whose expression can indicate the presence of a TMPRSS2‑ERG gene rearrangement often seen in prostate cancer; interpretation of the stain must be done by a qualified pathologist in the context of clinical history and other diagnostic data.
Special Instructions
Technical component only; no pathologist interpretation is included—order PATHC for full diagnostic evaluation; positive and negative controls are verified; best practice includes using slides cut within 6 weeks to preserve immunoreactivity.
Limitations
Age of paraffin sections may affect immunoreactivity; slide surface chemistry (e.g., charge, environmental factors) may alter staining; improper storage or handling of slides (high humidity, heat, plastics) may lead to inconsistent staining.
