F2‑Isoprostane/Creatinine Ratio
Also known as: F2 Isoprostane, F2-IsoPs, F2CR, IsoPF2
Use
This test measures the F2‑isoprostane to creatinine ratio in urine as a marker of oxidative stress, which may reflect lipid peroxidation and free radical damage. Abnormal elevations suggest increased oxidative stress linked to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or neurodegenerative disorders. Interpretation of results can guide lifestyle or dietary modifications and prompt further evaluation for underlying disease risk.
Special Instructions
No special preparation is required for routine testing. In consumer‑initiated ordering, no doctor’s visit is necessary, and testing can be completed during an in‑person appointment or via mobile phlebotomy where available.
Limitations
Urinary creatinine is used to normalize for urine dilution, but levels may still be influenced by muscle mass, hydration, or renal function. The test is not diagnostic by itself and should be interpreted in context of clinical risk and potential confounders.
