Onion (f48) IgE
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
This test measures specific IgE antibodies to onions, which can help determine if a patient has an allergy to onions. It aids in the diagnosis of allergic reactions and in monitoring levels of allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) as part of an allergy management plan.
Special Instructions
No special preparation is necessary for this test. Patients should consult their healthcare provider for specific instructions if they have further questions.
Limitations
The test should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis. Elevated levels of IgE antibodies can indicate allergy presence but should be correlated with clinical evaluation and history. Cross-reactivity with other allergens or food can affect test results. Test results should always be interpreted by a qualified healthcare provider.
