Penicillium notatum/chrysogenum IgG4
Use
This test quantitatively measures IgG4 subclass antibodies specific to Penicillium chrysogenum (formerly Penicillium notatum), a mold commonly found in the environment. Elevated IgG4 may indicate past exposure or hypersensitivity in patients with suspected mold-related respiratory or immune responses. Interpretation should be conducted by clinicians experienced in mold exposure assessment and IgG subclass immunology.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
IgG subclass testing can reflect past exposure but does not confirm active infection. Cross-reactivity among fungal antigens and variability in individual immune responses may limit specificity. Clinical correlation with patient history and environmental assessment is essential.
Methodology
Immunoassay (ELISA)
