Order TestUse
Decreased plasminogen activity may be inherited (e.g., congenital plasminogen deficiency, PLGD‑1) or acquired (e.g., associated with use of tranexamic acid or L‑asparaginase, disseminated intravascular coagulation, liver disease, sepsis, or during/after thrombolytic therapy). Plasminogen is developmentally regulated, reaching adult levels by approximately six months of age. It is a positive acute‑phase reactant, and increased activity may occur in response to infection, trauma, surgery, inflammation, or malignancy.
