STRATIFY JCV Antibody (with Index) with Reflex to Inhibition Assay
Use
Detection of antibodies to John Cunningham Virus (JCV) in human serum or plasma is used in conjunction with other clinical data (e.g., multiple sclerosis or Crohn’s disease patients receiving natalizumab) to aid risk stratification for progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) development.
Special Instructions
Reflex to inhibition assay if index value is in indeterminate range (e.g., 0.20–0.40), performed automatically. Professional use only; performed at Quest Diagnostics’ reference laboratory.
Limitations
Affected by specimen quality issues such as gross hemolysis, lipemia, or icterus. Indeterminate index values require reflex inhibition testing for confirmation; negative results do not rule out new exposure over time.
