Use

This test measures the level of IgE antibodies specific to guinea pig epithelium using the ImmunoCAP Fluorescent Enzyme Immunoassay method. It helps in the diagnosis of allergic reactions, particularly those mediated by IgE antibodies. A range of values is provided to interpret the likelihood of an IgE-mediated clinical reaction, which can be essential when evaluating allergic sensitivities in patients, especially in conjunction with patient history and other allergy testing methods.

Special Instructions

It's important to avoid multiple patient encounters to ensure accurate testing. Separation of serum from cells should be performed ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. The serum must be transferred to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube, following volume guidelines. Limitations

The presence of allergen-specific IgE concentrations does not correlate with the clinical response to an allergen. Test results should be considered alongside clinical history and potential in vivo reactivity. A negative result does not completely exclude a clinical allergy diagnosis as other factors may contribute to allergic symptoms. The test also might not detect very low levels of allergen-specific IgE that might still cause symptoms.
