Use
The Allergen, Epidermals and Animal Proteins, Mouse Urine IgE test measures the concentration of IgE antibodies specific to mouse urine. IgE is associated with allergic reactions and this test helps diagnose allergies related to exposure to mouse urine, which may be relevant in occupational settings or in homes with mouse infestations. Interpretation of results should consider the clinical context, as levels might not directly correlate with the severity of allergic symptoms or reactions.
Special Instructions
Collect serum in a serum separator tube. Separate the serum from cells as quickly as possible, within two hours of collection. Transfer the serum into an ARUP Standard Transport Tube for transport. Ensure proper specimen handling as per 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions'. Avoid multiple patient encounters before specimen collection for accurate testing.
Limitations
This test measures IgE specific to mouse urine allergens and may not correlate precisely with clinical allergy symptoms or skin test results. Concentrations of allergen-specific IgE do not necessarily predict the severity of an allergic reaction upon exposure. A negative test result does not completely rule out the presence of an allergy or the possibility of anaphylactic reactions. Results should be integrated with clinical evaluation and patient history.
