Use
The Allergen, Epidermals and Animal Proteins, Pig (Swine) Epithelium IgE test is used to measure specific IgE antibodies to pig epithelial proteins. This test aids in the diagnosis of allergic responses to pig epithelia, which may be important for individuals regularly exposed to pigs due to occupational or environmental reasons. Results are interpreted in relation to the patient's clinical history and in vivo allergic reactions.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure accurate assessment of allergen exposure. Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Ensure adequate volume and proper handling for accurate testing results.
Limitations
Results of allergen-specific IgE between 0.10-0.34 kU/L should be used by specialists, as their clinical relevance is undetermined. The test results may not directly correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results. Correlation of laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo allergen reactivity is necessary. A negative result does not rule out clinical allergy or anaphylaxis.
