Use
This test measures allergen-specific IgE to rabbit epithelium using a quantitative ImmunoCAP fluorescent enzyme immunoassay. It is used to help diagnose allergic responses to rabbit epithelium, which may contribute to respiratory symptoms in sensitized individuals. Results are evaluated in the context of the clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens.
Special Instructions
Patients need to minimize multiple patient encounters to avoid variability in test results. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within two hours after collection to ensure sample integrity. Refer to ARUP's allergen specimen collection instructions for detailed guidelines.
Limitations
Although increasing levels of allergen-specific IgE reflect increased sensitivity, they may not always correlate with the severity of clinical symptoms or response to allergen exposure, such as skin testing. A negative result does not exclude the possibility of allergies, including the risk of anaphylaxis. The test results should be integrated with clinical history and other diagnostic evaluations.
