Use
This test quantitatively measures IgE antibodies specific to rat epithelium allergens in the serum. It is primarily used to assess the presence of allergen-specific IgE to help diagnose allergic conditions related to exposure to rat epithelium. While an increased IgE level may suggest allergic sensitization, it does not always correlate with symptoms when exposed to the allergen.

Limitations
Results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use as the clinical relevance is undetermined. The test results may not correlate with the degree of in vivo clinical response or skin testing results due to external factors. Clinical correlation with patient history is essential for accurate interpretation. A negative test does not rule out the possibility of allergy or anaphylaxis.
