Use
The Allergen, Fungi and Molds, Aspergillus flavus IgE test is used to quantitatively measure the specific IgE antibodies to Aspergillus flavus, a type of mold that can cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. The presence of specific IgE indicates sensitization and helps in the assessment of allergic disease. This test can assist healthcare providers in the diagnosis and management of allergic disorders related to exposure to this particular mold.
Special Instructions
This test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories but at Eurofins Viracor. Ensure that separate specimens are submitted if multiple tests are ordered, as the test requires standalone sample processing. Please review the Specimen Collection and Handling Instructions to ensure adequate volume for allergen testing.
Limitations
This IgE test is specific to Aspergillus flavus and does not evaluate exposure to other molds or allergens. Lipemic specimens are unacceptable as they may interfere with test accuracy. As the test is performed by Eurofins Viracor, any inquiries regarding test processing may need to be directed to that facility. Performance characteristics have not been cleared or approved by the FDA.
