This test is used to detect and quantify IgE antibodies specific to the allergen Epidermophyton floccosum, a type of mold. Special Instructions
Ensure the collection of adequate specimens since separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. The test is performed by a non-ARUP laboratory, and the methodology involves a quantitative enzyme immunoassay.
Limitations
The test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories; it is carried out by Eurofins Viracor. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA, and hence, the performance characteristics and result reliability are based on the laboratory's internal validation processes. The test cannot be used to diagnose or rule out other mold or fungal allergies outside of Epidermophyton floccosum.
