Allergen, Insects and Venom, Paper Wasp IgG

Use
The test measures specific IgG antibodies to paper wasp venom allergens using a quantitative immunoassay. It is used in the clinical assessment of individuals who may have been exposed to wasp venom and are at risk of allergic reactions. This assessment helps in determining the presence and level of allergen-specific IgG antibodies in the patient's serum, which can be indicative of their sensitization to paper wasp venom.
Special Instructions
Ensure proper specimen handling and transport by following the specimen collection and handling instructions available at the ARUP Laboratories website. Specimens from New York clients will be sent to a New York state-approved laboratory for further processing, as this test is not approved in New York state.
Limitations
The units mcg/mL and mgA/L are interchangeable for this test. Performance characteristics have been determined by ARUP Laboratories, but the test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens are not acceptable. Stability post-separation ranges from ambient conditions for 48 hours to frozen conditions for up to one year.
