Use
This test is used to measure the levels of allergen-specific IgG antibodies to the white-faced hornet venom. It helps in assessing exposure or sensitization to the venom of this particular insect, which can be critical for diagnosing allergies and managing patients who have experienced allergic reactions. Values less than 2.00 mcg/mL indicate absent or undetectable levels of these antibodies, while higher values may suggest sensitization.
Special Instructions
Please review the Specimen Collection and Handling Instructions to ensure adequate volume for allergen testing. Specimens from New York clients will be sent out to a New York state-approved laboratory due to state-specific approval requirements.
Limitations
The test has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, and it is not New York state approved. Performance is determined by ARUP Laboratories as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT). The test is intended for clinical purposes and must be interpreted in the context of clinical findings. Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens are unacceptable; thus, sample integrity is crucial.
