Use
The test is designed to quantitatively measure allergen-specific IgE levels in response to cereal allergens such as Barley, Gluten, Rice, Rye, and Wheat. These measurements assist in diagnosing potential allergic reactions mediated by IgE, which may help in assessing allergic responses to these specific cereal allergens.
Special Instructions
The serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. It should then be transferred to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure accurate results.
Limitations
The concentrations of allergen-specific IgE measured do not always correlate with the degree of clinical response. The test results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical symptoms and history, as well as in vivo reactivity to specific allergens. A negative result does not necessarily rule out a clinical allergy or anaphylaxis.
