Use
The Androstanediol Glucuronide Quantitative test serves as an adjunct tool for evaluating hirsutism. It measures the level of androstanediol glucuronide, a metabolite in serum or plasma, providing insight into androgen metabolism. This test aids in the diagnosis and monitoring of conditions related to excess androgen production, but is not generally recommended as a standalone diagnostic tool.
Special Instructions
This test is performed by a non-ARUP laboratory, Esoterix Inc. It requires separate specimens if multiple tests are ordered simultaneously, as it is not performed at ARUP Laboratories. New York state approval is confirmed for this test.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Its performance characteristics were determined by the performing laboratory, and as such, the results should be interpreted within the broader clinical context. Comprehensive evaluation for androgen excess should consider multiple factors beyond androstanediol glucuronide levels.
