Use
The presence of CCP antibodies, when considered in conjunction with other laboratory and clinical findings, is an aid in the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Approximately 70% of RA patients are positive for anti-CCP IgG, while only 2% of random blood donors and control subjects are positive.
Special Instructions
Following collection, serum should be separated from the clot and the sample should be stored at room temperature.
Limitations
The test may yield negative results in early stages of rheumatoid arthritis and may be affected by factors such as hemolysis, lipemia, gross bacterial contamination, the addition of azide or other preservatives, and heat inactivation. Additional confirmatory tests may be required.
