Anti-CCP (Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide) Antibodies, IgG and IgA (RDL)
Use
Anti-CCP (cyclic citrullinated peptide) antibodies are autoantibodies that are present in patients with established rheumatoid arthritis (RA). These antibodies have a sensitivity of 66-79% in established RA, and 59% in early RA cases. Importantly, Anti-CCP shows higher specificity for the diagnosis of RA compared to Rheumatoid Factor (RF), with a specificity range of 90-96%.
Special Instructions
To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, submit separate frozen specimens for each test. Separate serum from cells within one hour of collection and transfer to a plastic transport tube before shipping.
Limitations
The test exhibits sensitivities of 66-79% in established RA cases and 59% in early RA, with a specificity range of 90-96%. False positives and negatives can occur, and results can be influenced by sample stability and integrity. Gross hemolysis, bacterial contamination, lipemic or icteric specimens, as well as non-serum specimen types can lead to rejections.
