Use
Useful for the differential diagnosis of patients with water balance disorders, including diabetes insipidus in conjunction with osmolality and hydration status
Special Instructions
Test requires plasma specimen to be centrifuged in a refrigerated centrifuge, separated, and frozen immediately for transfer. No isotopes should be administered within 24 hours prior to venipuncture. To prevent delays, submit separate frozen specimens for multiple test requests.
Limitations
This test has not been FDA-cleared or approved. ADH is released in a pulsatile manner and rapidly cleared, which presents a challenge for its assessment. The peptide's high ex vivo instability complicates measurement. Mixed forms of DI and the potential for incomplete central and peripheral DI add complexity to interpreting results.

Collection Instructions
