Special Instructions

The test requires actively growing isolate in pure culture for accurate results. Transport the sealed container with pure culture on agar slant or in bacterial transport media. Ensure each specimen is placed in an individually sealed bag. Consideration is needed for organism and source-specific reporting, and any deviation in the submission requirements may incur additional processing fees.

Limitations

This test might not be applicable for mixed cultures or nonviable organisms, as they are considered unacceptable conditions for accurate susceptibility testing. Specimens that are not submitted in pure culture will require additional processing, potentially delaying results. Species identification is necessary for this test; if not provided, identification will incur additional charges. Furthermore, the test is dependent on the isolation and growth of bacteria in appropriate media, which may not be possible for all fastidious organisms.
