Collection Instructions
Pure culture of anaerobic isolate on a slant or plate. Transport in an anaerobic environment; slant, plate, or swab. Collect swab specimen using an Amies gel transport swab, Amies liquid elution swab (ESWAB), or equivalent. Refrigerated preferred and may help improve isolate viability.
Causes for Rejection
Isolate in Thioglycollate broth; Aerobic slant; Plate or swab; Frozen isolates (unless in glycerol broth‑acceptable)
