B-Type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP)
Also known as: BNP, Brain Natriuretic Peptide
Use
Support a diagnosis of congestive heart failure (CHF)
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
The BNP test may be affected by patients consuming high doses of biotin, resulting in potential test interference. Additionally, BNP levels can be influenced by age and physical activity. It is important to note that while BNP levels are indicative of cardiac function, they are part of a comprehensive diagnosis and should be considered alongside other clinical assessments.
