Use
May assist in confirming an early or recent Bartonella henselae infection. The presence of IgM antibodies suggests recent infection, and low levels of these antibodies may occasionally persist for more than 12 months post infection.
Special Instructions
Parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of the acute specimens. Mark specimens plainly as 'acute' or 'convalescent'.
Limitations
This test was developed and its performance characteristics were determined by ARUP Laboratories but it has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. As an analyte specific reagent (ASR), its use is intended for clinical purposes following laboratory validation studies in a CLIA-certified laboratory setting.
