Use
BCL‑6 by Immunohistochemistry is a technical stain (stain and return) used to detect expression of the B‑cell lymphoma 6 (BCL‑6) protein in tissue or cells. BCL‑6 is a transcription factor expressed primarily in germinal center B cells and is useful in the evaluation and classification of B‑cell lymphomas such as follicular lymphoma, diffuse large B‑cell lymphoma, and others. The test provides immunohistochemical confirmation of BCL‑6 presence to assist pathologists in diagnosis and subtyping of lymphoid neoplasms.

Limitations
Specimens that are non‑representative tissue types or depleted are unacceptable. The test must be performed on formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded tissue (or cellblock), with protection from excessive heat. Precut slides should not be oven‑baked. Slides and blocks should be shipped in appropriate transport kits; frozen specimens are unacceptable. Control and handling factors (e.g., slide charge, age of cut sections) may affect staining but are not detailed here.

Collection Instructions
Formalin fix (10 percent neutral buffered formalin) and paraffin embed specimen (cells must be prepared into a cellblock). Protect paraffin block and/or slides from excessive heat. Transport tissue block or unstained slides in tissue transport kit.
Storage Instructions
Room temperature or refrigerated; ship in cooled container during summer months.
