Use
CD103 immunohistochemical (IHC) staining is a technical service (stain only) used to detect expression of the integrin subunit CD103 in tissue sections. CD103 expression can aid in diagnostic evaluation of certain lymphoid and epithelial lesions, particularly for identifying intraepithelial T‑lymphocytes and supporting evaluation in hematopathology (for example, hairy cell leukemia, marginal zone lymphomas), though interpretation requires correlation with clinical context and pathology review. The stain is offered as a technical component without pathologist interpretation (stain and return only).

This is a stain‑and‑return (technical) service only, meaning only the technical IHC stain is performed; no interpretation is provided. Refer to ARUP’s Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure for ordering guidance. Ordering includes submission of either a tissue block or unstained positively charged slides using ARUP supply #47808 (tissue transport kit).
Limitations
Specimens not formalin‑fixed and paraffin‑embedded (eg, serum, blood, unprocessed tissue, or non‑positively charged slides) are unacceptable and will be rejected. Frozen specimens are unacceptable. Slides must not be oven‑baked if precut; storage and transport must maintain ambient or refrigerated temperature, with shipping cooled in summer. Interpretation is not included and must be pursued separately if desired. Performance is technical only; conclusions require integration with clinical/pathologic context.
