Use
This immunohistochemical (IHC) test evaluates CD5 expression, which is typically found on most thymocytes, immature peripheral T cells, mature T cells, and mantle zone B cells, aiding in distinguishing T‑cell lineage and identifying certain B‑cell neoplasms such as mantle cell lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and other lymphoid malignancies.
Special Instructions
Submit formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks or unstained slides; recommended at least one H&E slide if interpretation is requested; tissue should be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin for 6–72 hours; submit unstained slides (baked or unbaked) and transport using cold packs for blocks; label slides with two positive patient identifiers.
Limitations
FFPE tissue required; frozen specimens or insufficiently fixed tissue may compromise stain quality; at least one unstained slide per stain is needed; avoid inadequate fixation and ensure proper labeling to prevent specimen rejection.
