Use
This test identifies and quantifies the CD57+/CD3- NK cells, which are a subset of natural killer cells. The identification and quantification of these cells can provide insights into immune system status. However, the significance of low CD57+ NK values in diagnosing and monitoring chronic Lyme disease is not well established, and this test should be used in conjunction with other diagnostic tests specified in the Centers for Disease Control Lyme Disease case definition.
Special Instructions
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories, and it is intended for clinical purposes. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and is performed in a CLIA certified laboratory.
Limitations
The test's role specifically in diagnosing chronic Lyme disease is not confirmed and should be interpreted with caution. It is not to be used as a standalone diagnostic tool for Lyme disease but rather as part of a broader diagnostic workup.
