Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, and Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Types 1 and 2, NAA
Use
Diagnosis of Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Trichomonas vaginalis infections; detect and type active HSV shedding.
Special Instructions
Specimens collected from children younger than 13 years or without the patient's age/date of birth may be tested and reported with a disclaimer. Ensure the use of correct Aptima® kits for collection to avoid rejection. Storage at room temperature is required for specimen stability.
Limitations
This test is intended to aid in the diagnosis of HSV infections with active viral shedding and differentiates HSV-1 from HSV-2. Negative HSV NAA results only indicate a lack of viral shedding at the time of sample collection and do not confirm the absence of a previous infection. The performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp and have not been cleared or approved by the FDA, which may be a relevant consideration in clinical scenarios.
