hCG, Total, with HAMA Treatment
Clinical Use
Order TestUse
This test is designed to detect total human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels with treatment to reduce interference from human anti-mouse antibodies (HAMA), which can cause false-positive results in standard assays.
Special Instructions
Used when heterophilic antibody interference (PHANTOM hCG) is suspected. In such cases, further evaluation may include serum hCG by alternate methods or urine testing.
Limitations
Heterophile antibodies such as HAMA may cause false-positive results; this test aims to mitigate that interference but may not fully eliminate it. Further confirmatory steps may be needed.
