Use
The Helicobacter pylori Culture test is used for the diagnosis of H. pylori infection, particularly in children or in patients with treatment failure. The culture allows for the growth and identification of the Helicobacter pylori bacteria, providing an opportunity to perform susceptibility testing. This can guide treatment by identifying antibiotics to which the bacteria are sensitive or resistant.

Limitations
Negative culture results do not exclude the possibility of Helicobacter pylori infection. Susceptibility testing and identification of the organism are performed separately and may vary in method. The test has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration but is performed in a CLIA-certified laboratory for clinical purposes.

Preserve specimen in Brucella broth with 20% glycerol immediately after collection. Also acceptable: Brucella broth, BHI, or equivalent with or without 10-20 percent glycerol.
