Special Instructions
Collect the specimen prior to dialysis. It is important to avoid collecting samples from patients who have recently received antithymocyte globulin, OKT3, or alemtuzumab (Campath®), as these can cause false-positive results. Ensuring that the collection timing is appropriate can help prevent inaccurate test outcomes that may affect clinical decision-making.
Limitations
The test is designed to detect antibodies of the IgG isotype but does not detect IgM antibodies, which are usually indicative of autoantibodies. Therefore, the absence of IgG detection in this test does not preclude the presence of autoantibodies. This limitation should be considered when interpreting test results, especially in complex immunological assessments relating to autoimmune conditions or other clinical scenarios.
