HLA Antibody Screen, Class I and Class II
Also known as: HLAABSCN
Use
This test is used to detect HLA antibodies for solid organ and stem cell transplantation. The presence or absence of HLA Class I and Class II IgG antibodies is determined, providing important immunological information necessary for the management of transplant patients.
Special Instructions
Testing is not New York state approved. Specimens from New York clients will be sent out to a New York state-approved laboratory.
Limitations
The test only detects IgG antibody isotype and does not detect IgM antibodies. It does not provide information on the specificities of the HLA antibodies detected. The test was developed under accreditation guidelines from the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI), but some tests or reagents have not been cleared or approved by the FDA.
