Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Biopsy in situ Hybridization Low- and High-risk Subtypes
Also known as: HPV by ISH
Use
Determine HPV type; confirm HPV infection; resolve cases with equivocal histopathology
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
The assay can identify only six specific HPV types and is unable to detect other HPV types beyond 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, and 33. It is important to note that while more than 20 distinct HPV types have been associated with the anogenital mucosa, this test does not provide a complete profile of all potential HPV types affecting the mucosal tissue. Additionally, the test has not received clearance or approval from the FDA, which may limit its applicability to certain diagnostic settings. The results should be considered in context with clinical findings and other diagnostic procedures.
