Use
This test aids in the diagnosis or monitoring of monoclonal gammopathies and immune deficiencies. It measures the levels of Immunoglobulin A (IgA), Immunoglobulin G (IgG), and Immunoglobulin M (IgM) in the blood to assess the patient's immune function or any abnormalities which might indicate immune deficiencies or disorders like common variable immunodeficiency, plasma cell dyscrasias, autoimmune hepatitis, and other related conditions.
Special Instructions
The test is intended for use on serum samples collected in a serum separator tube. Serum must be separated from cells as soon as possible or within two hours of collection and transferred to an ARUP standard transport tube for optimal results.
Limitations
The test cannot be performed on samples that are grossly hemolyzed or lipemic as these conditions may interfere with the immunoturbidimetric quantification. It is also critical that the serum is properly separated and stored under recommended conditions. Patient preparation does not require any specific actions beyond standard collection procedures.
