Use
The Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein (MOG) Antibody test is used to detect the presence of MOG antibodies in serum, which can be associated with idiopathic inflammatory demyelinating diseases, including neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders.
Special Instructions
Testing includes an initial screen for MOG antibodies. If positive, a titer is reflexively performed to determine antibody levels. This test is pertinent for diagnosing and management of patients with demyelinating disorders.
Limitations
This test may not distinguish between different types of demyelinating diseases and should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings and other laboratory tests. False positives and negatives can occur, particularly in the presence of other autoimmune conditions.
