Use
Diagnostic and prognostic test for acute lymphoblastic leukemia in the pediatric population; detection rate is improved from 50% with a chromosome study to 90% with FISH
Special Instructions
It is vital to indicate the clinical diagnosis and any previous cytogenetic studies on the test request form. Use sterile techniques and Labcorp transport kits for specimen collection.
Limitations
The test can detect only those molecular mutations or chromosomal alterations directly targeted by the included probes. It cannot detect alterations outside these targeted areas, highlighting the importance of integrating these results with a full cytogenetic analysis and clinical evaluation for comprehensive patient assessment.
