Use
Antigen‑specific IgG and IgM titers allow rapid diagnosis of infection by organisms within either of the two major groups of Rickettsia. The spotted fever group includes R. rickettsii (Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever) and R. akari (Rickettsialpox). The typhus group includes R. typhi (endemic/murine typhus) and R. prowazekii (epidemic typhus).

Even after infection has been treated, positive results may persist. False‑positive reactions may occur during pregnancy.
