Toxoplasma Antibody (IgG)
Clinical Use
Order TestUse
Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic infection caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii. Approximately 23% of the immunocompetent population are asymptomatic carriers. High titers of IgG antibodies can persist for years, and rising IgG titers after birth, in absence of placental leak, are consistent with neonatal infection.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
During reactivation, an IgM response may not occur or may be at levels too low to be detected.
