Use
This test aids in the diagnosis of non-acute (chronic phase) Chagas disease caused by Trypanosoma cruzi. It is designed to detect IgG antibodies to the parasite, which may indicate current or past infection. The test is important in identifying chronic Chagas disease and determining the need for further serologic testing as recommended by the CDC.
Special Instructions
This assay should not be used for blood donor screening or associated re-entry protocols, or for screening Human Cell and Cellular Tissue-Based Products (HCT/Ps). Parallel testing is recommended, and convalescent specimens must arrive within 30 days of acute specimens.
Limitations
According to the CDC, at least two different serologic tests should be used to diagnose chronic Chagas Disease, as no single serologic test is sufficiently sensitive and specific. If results are discrepant between assays, repeat testing or testing with a third method may be beneficial.

Collection Instructions
